Through Setting the Table, The Recovery Plan intends to facilitate a three year initiative dedicated to the development shared methodologies and practices around transnational convenings that draw upon the history and archive of Pan African and Afrodiasporic congresses, conferences and retreats.

Initiated in 2025, Setting the Table is a three year initiative that brings together leaders and thinkers that are or have been a part of artist run spaces and collectives. Research around strategies for convening amongst Black artists and writers are shared, studied and analyzed in this period in order to design a blue print for large scale transnational conferences while forming tools that can be shared with all to facilitate cultural collectivity fueled by the arts. Toolkits and living archives, retreats, performances and a roundtable exchanges form some of the key elements of this work which is a setting of the table for cultural convenings amongst African and Afro-diasporic people. This work, supported of the Terra Foundation for American Art, hopes to establish a toolkit that will facilitate future efforts around gathering, sharing and being in collectivity
